The name ‘Thung Nham’ alone carries a weight of seductive exotica and bears the distinctive indigenous elements of Ninh Binh and North Vietnam. ‘Thung Nham’ signifies the two geographical features of the land, with ‘Thung’ means valley while ‘Nham’ refers to steep cliffs and mountains. So the word can roughly be translated to ‘a valley surrounded by towering mountains.’
