The bulldozer with immense power

Visitors who come to enjoy Thung Nham Eco-tourism Zone, surely many people wonder about a spacious construction – located in a beautiful location next to the flower island – but inside there is only a single old, rusty bulldozer. When tourists are curious about the story of that bulldozer, the tour guides of the tourist area often say – “This is a powerful bulldozer”.

Indeed, that old bulldozer carries within it the entrepreneurial story of the founder of Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area. Therefore, it is not wrong to say that this is a “powerful” bulldozer – the power of intelligence and resilient, resilient mentality that has turned the wild, swampy valley into an ideal eco-tourism destination of Ninh Binh province.

In 1999, Mr. Pham Cong Chat – the investor of Thung Nham Eco-tourism Area (currently the director of Doanh Sinh Trade and Tourism Services Joint Stock Company), at that time a young man, during an adventure with a group of friends in Thung Nham, discovered a large, lush valley – he came up with the idea of building a comprehensive farm economic model. The dream of reclaiming land was cherished passionately in the heart of the young man.

However, the terrain was difficult, the valley was densely surrounded by mountains and forests, the only way to get in and out was by boat, through the cave – which is now But Cave. Partly because of the difficult terrain – and more importantly because he did not have much capital – at that time, young Pham Cong Chat did not have any supporting machinery – except for a buffalo. People and buffalo worked hard day and night, struggling to pull each cart of soil, plowing each furrow, etc. At that time, he only wished he had a bulldozer to speed up the work and reduce the burden on the workers.

The bulldozer “has power” – the power of intelligence and resilient, enduring mentality

Together with the buffalo, the bulldozer contributed greatly in the early days of hard land reclamation. With the support of machinery, the work progress was accelerated: from leveling hills, bulldozing, building banks, making beds… the old machine did everything smoothly. People’s hearts were also strengthened, more confident in the future. Just like that, the appearance of the bulldozer marked an important milestone in the history of the formation of the tourist area.

In 2010, when there was a project to open a road to Thung Nham, the bulldozer actively participated in the work of leveling mountains, opening roads, and clearing the main road – the beautiful, wide concrete road, winding between two rows of green trees that visitors passed from the ticket gate to here.

In 2012, the first road leading to Thung Nham was officially opened. People and vehicles were able to circulate on the main road for the first time, connecting Thung Nham with the plains outside. The joy was overwhelming. From now on, the dream of building an ideal eco-tourism combined with farm economic zone seems to have come closer.

Just like that, the old bulldozer told us the story of Mr. Pham Cong Chat’s twenty years of tireless hard work to turn the wild, swampy valley into a beautiful “mountainous and watery” eco-tourism destination like today.

Today, although the bulldozer is no longer in use, it is still placed solemnly – in a spacious exhibition house – in an easy-to-observe location at the tourist area. To commemorate the difficult but resilient early days of starting a business. As well as an oath, a self-admonition to strive even harder, to break through even more by the passionate owner who loves nature.
